Fabric Care Eco-system UX research and App Design
In modern society, where fast fashion is prevalent, more and more people pursue clothing based on how quickly it can be replaced. Driven by economic interests, manufacturers continue to use low-cost fibers as raw materials to mass-produce fashionable and attractive clothes. The "microfiber vicious cycle" behind this is gradually emerging. After frequent washing, clothes shed a large number of microfibers, which cannot decompose and are carried through the drainage system into the ocean. These microfibers are then ingested by marine life, which eventually enters the human body when people consume seafood.
In this research, the design team analyzes the current situation using creative thinking, contemporary context, and research methods. It applies design thinking to construct a problem framework, integrates contemporary issues for a holistic reflection, and ultimately proposes a solution.
Our solution is to design an app that collects old clothes and processes them in a unified, sustainable way. Through the app, users can locate collection points and receive directions, helping to resolve uncertainties around how to dispose of old clothing. Based on this solution, we created a series of GIF posters to raise consumer awareness and designed an environmental company logo to reinforce this message.
